Vision & Mission

Vision

The vision of our church answers the question “where are we going?” The vision can be summarized as follows:

"Global Churches for Global University Towns"

  • We believe that Jesus is on the move today, creating transformational, multiethnic Jesus communities all around the world.
  • We believe He is calling us to plant and grow these sort of communities in global university towns.

Mission

While vision answers the question, "where are we going," mission answers the question "what are we called to do in pursuit of the vision, day in and day out?" Our mission at Ethnos can be summed up as follows:

"To Help Skeptics Become World Changers, Both Here and Abroad"

More specifically, our mission can be broken down into three parts:

Mission Practices are the ongoing actions we strive for in all we do.

  • Love God and neighbor
  • Grow into the likeness of Jesus
  • Serve those around us, especially the oppressed and hurting
  • Witness to the person and work of Jesus, the savior of all peoples

Mission Reach defines the geographical focus of our work.  This is based on something Jesus mentioned in Acts 1:8.  We understand our mission as being in three primary areas: University City,  Greater San Diego and the World.

Mission Process describes the stages of the spiritual journey we find ourselves in as we journey toward Jesus.  We organize the components of our church to help facilitate the journey here.
